Summary: Dr Fabian Muniesa is a researcher at the Centre de Sociologie de l'Innovation (CSI), Ecole des Mines de Paris. He is also an external faculty affiliate of the Center on Organizational Innovation (COI) at Columbia University. He was trained as a sociologist at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. In 1999 he joined the social sciences laboratory at the Centre National d'Etudes des Télécommunications (then France Telecom R&D) as a PhD student and he defended his PhD thesis at the Ecole des Mines de Paris in 2003. In the same year he joined the London School of Economics for a post-doctoral research fellowship; later he joined the Centre de Sociologie de l'Innovation as a researcher. He currently teaches a course on the sociology of markets to third year students of the engineering programme at the Ecole des Mines de Paris. He is also involved in other teaching activities or collaborations. Dr Fabian Muniesa has contributed extensively to the field of social studies of finance. His main research topic in this field is the sociology of trading technologies. Other research interests include the anthropology of calculation, the sociology of quantification and the sociology of architecture.
